Why learn Spanish?

Spanish is the 4th most spoken language in the world, with over 400 million people speaking it all over the globe.

The United States has the fifth largest population of Spanish speakers in the world.

About half of all the people in the western hemisphere speak Spanish as their primary language.

 

In both the United States and Canada, Spanish is the most popular foreign language to learn.

Spanish is a romance language. If you learn Spanish, the similarities in structure, roots, and history will make it easier to learn other romance languages like French and Italian.

A recent study of 25 metro markets in the U.S. found that Spanish-language media programming was the sixth most popular format.

The emerging economies of Latin America are growing in strength and importance as the countries develop. This will open up countless business opportunities, foreign trade lines, and inter-country cooperation. Fluency in Spanish will be an added plus for people entering the job market in the near future.

Hispanics comprise the largest minority in the United States, of which about 40 million speak Spanish as their first language.
